Former major league all-star and San Diego State All-American, Tony Gwynn is a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame honoring his standout 20 year league career. In his 20 seasons with the Padres, Tony compiled a career average of .338 and ranked 17th all-time among major league players. He hit over .300 for 19 consecutive seasons, surpassing Honus Wagner's National League record. A member of the 3,000-hit club, he won five Rawlings Gold Gloves for his defensive excellence. Known as "Mr. Padre" both during and after his career, the San Diego club retired his number 19 jersey in 2004 and a street was named in his honor.
